The Archdiocese of Athens denies that the Archbishop “congratulated” Tsipras on the Prespes Agreement

Archbishop Ieronymos II and Alexis Tsipras

by Romfea.news

The Holy Archdiocese of Athens’ Press Office Director Haris Konidaris rejected the media reports related to the alleged call from Archbishop Ieronymos to Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras to congratulate him for the ratification of the Prespes Agreement.

According to the official statement, “There has been no communication, either by telephone or any other way, between the Archbishop and the Prime Minister since last November”.

Konidaris also pointed out that the Archbishop had never contacted the Prime Minister to allegedly “congratulate” him for the ratification of the Prespes Agreement or for the vote of confidence in the government.

“This is a clear and fraudulent attempt of vulgar misinformation which serves interests. It is the epitome of spreading false news, clearly aiming to defame the Archbishop. This is extremely sad…”.
