The prime minister held a visit to the Vella Monastery and was welcomed by Metropolitan Maximos of Ioannina, the mayor of Pogoni and local authorities.
Metropolitan of Ioannina showed Kyriakos Mitsotakis around the premises of the Monastery Dairy, which will start operating soon and will contribute, as the Metropolitan pointed out, to the development of the region. The
Metropolitan of Ioannina also raised the issue about the operation of the Farm School, to which both the Prime Minister and the Minister of Rural Development and Food, Makis Voridis, took a positive approach. In particular, the Metropolitan spoke about the goal of creating a farm, and of developing it into a Farm School where young people will study. At the same time, the Metropolitan said that there was interest in linking the project to certified production and agritourism.
The Minister of Rural Development welcomed the initiative of the Metropolitan of Ioannina and stressed the importance of cooperation with the Agricultural University and the Dairy School of Ioannina. He stressed that agricultural education would play a central role in the development of the agricultural sector in the coming years.
The Holy Monastery warmly welcomed the prime minister while students from the Ecclesiastical High School welcomed him by singing a traditional song from Epirus. The prime minister talked with the students and then he was shown around the historic Vella Monastery.
