On July 23, 2024, Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and All Africa attended the Divine Liturgy at the Patriarchal Monastery of Saint Savvas the Sanctified in Alexandria. Following the service, a holy memorial was held to honor his predecessor and mentor, Patriarch Parthenios III of Alexandria, who served from 1986 to 1997.
During the heartfelt ceremony, Patriarch Theodore shared personal experiences and moments from the late Patriarch’s tenure, highlighting his deep admiration and respect for Parthenios III. He reminisced about his ordination to the priesthood under Parthenios III, when he served as the Auxiliary Bishop of the once Diocese of Cyrene.
Additionally, it was noted that Patriarch Theodore had recently performed a memorial service on July 20 at the tombs of his late predecessors, Nicholas VI and Parthenios III, in Cairo.
