On the Pentecost Sunday, June 20, 2021, Metropolitan Athenagoras of Belgium and Exarch of the Netherlands and Luxembourg presided over the Divine Liturgy at Saints Archangels Michael and Gabriel Orthodox Cathedral in Brussels along with priests and deacons of the Holy Metropolis.
In his sermon, the Metropolitan referred to the third person of the Holy Trinity, the Holy Spirit, the Intercessor, who descended on this blessed day of Pentecost.
Immediately after the Divine Liturgy, the Vespers of the feast of the Holy Spirit was celebrated with the kneeling prayer.
In the end, the Metropolitan thanked the Deputy Permanent Representative of the Greek Permanent Representation to NATO, Ambassador Evangelos Sekeris, and the Consul General of Greece in Belgium, Vassilios Zarbalis, for their presence in the Divine Liturgy and the kneeling prayer. He also expressed his joy that there is again the possibility of a significantly larger number of believers attending church and invited the faithful to return to the temples.
