Metropolitan Georgios of Paphos, in the presence of Archbishop Chrysostomos of Cyprus, received Patriarch Theodore of Alexandria and Bishop Nicodemus of Nitria at the Episcopate (Episkopeio) of the Holy Metropolis of Paphos.
Patriarch Theodore and his entourage were guided by the Metropolitan of Paphos to the premises of the new Library of the Holy Metropolis. The librarian, Christos Panagi, briefed the Patriarch of Alexandria on the reasoning behind the way the library was organised as well as on the computer programmes used for the archiving of the written material of the Metropolis.
Afterwards, Patriarch Theodore had a private meeting with the Archbishop of Cyprus and the Metropolitan of Paphos, during which they exchanged views on current church issues.
The Patriarch of Alexandria also informed his interlocutors about the church issues on the African continent, the difficulties of our fellow brethren, and the difficulties of the evangelical work of the mission. He also highlighted their everlasting love for Archbishop Chrysostomos of Cyprus, who was deemed as “prudent”, “meek” and “generous”. The conversation was in a friendly spirit.
The visit of Patriarch Theodore took place on the occasion of his arrival in Cyprus, where he will meet the President of the Republic of Cyprus, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Mayor of Paphos, priests of the Church of Cyprus and other officials.
Before leaving the Metropolis of Paphos, the Patriarch of Alexandria paid his respects at the Cathedral of Saint Theodoros Stratelates in Paphos, where he bowed before the icon of the Saint.
