Patriarch Kirill of Moscow congratulated Russian President Vladimir Putin on the occasion of yesterday’s “Defender of the Fatherland Day”.
Under Russian law, the Russian president is the commander-in-chief of the Russian armed forces.
Patriarch Kirill wished the Russian president well. Because of his position, Vladimir Putin “has a special responsibility to ensure the security of the country.”
According to Patriarch Kirill, “to build a peaceful and prosperous life and to defend Russia’s independence, it is important to reinforce its defense capacity.”
The Patriarch of Moscow also wished Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu.
