Pristina has banned Patriarch Porfirije of Serbia from entering Kosovo, announced the head of the Kosovo office of the government of Serbia, Petar Petković.
“The authorities in Pristina, on the direct orders of Albin Kurti (Prime Minister of Kosovo), today banned the entry of Patriarch Porfirije of Serbia, and the seven bishops accompanying him to the territory of Kosovo and Metochia to attend the session of the Holy Synod of the Serbian Orthodox Church at the Patriarchate in Peć,” said Petar Petković.
He said that the Serbian liaison officer informed Pristina in time about the trip of the head of the Serbian Orthodox Church to the official seat of the Patriarchate in the town of Peć, and just 12 minutes before he arrived at the administrative border, the negative response from the Kosovo government was received.
Pristina has not yet confirmed that the entry of the Patriarch of Serbia has been banned.
The Spring Hierarchical Synod of the Serbian Orthodox Church session was scheduled to begin tomorrow, Tuesday, at the Patriarchate in the town of Peć in Kosovo. The Patriarchate announced that due to the ban on the entry of the Patriarch and bishops into Kosovo, the Holy Synod will be held in Belgrade.
