The Metropolis of Germany has repeatedly collaborated in the Greek-Bavarian Cultural Days with Isargau, thus stressing the fostering of Greek-Bavarian friendship in the daily lives of our fellow citizens in Bavarian society.
Bavarian Cultural Association Isargau’s aim is to preserve and promote Bavarian customs, such as folk costumes, music and dance, as they have been expressing Bavarian identity for centuries, and have been passing down from generation to generation.
This year marks the 100th anniversary since the establishment of Isargau.
President of Isargau Michael Unruh opened the festive events and welcomed the representative of the Orthodox Church, Protopresbyterian Apostolos Malamousis. Alexander Greulich, the mayor of the city, welcomed warmly Protopresbyterian Apostolos Malamousis and thanked him for his frequent participation in city events.
At the Roman Catholic Divine Liturgy performed at the beginning of the event, the Roman Catholic clerics welcomed Fr. Apostolos and described him as an invaluable friend of the Bavarian Churches.
On behalf of our Orthodox Church and especially our Metropolis, it was a great honor to participate officially in the 100th anniversary of Isargau. In this way, a message of peaceful coexistence of peoples and cultures were sent while a successful integration into Bavarian society was highlighted.
