Archbishop Elpidophoros of America conferred the offikion of Protopresbyter upon Fr. Soterios Baroody at the Church of Our Savior in Rye, New York at the conclusion at the Agape Vespers on Sunday of Pascha, April 24, 2022.
Fr. Soterios serves as a priest to the St. George Jordanian Orthodox Community of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America that presently meets for liturgical services at the Rye parish.
Additionally, he is the incumbent Chief Financial Officer of the Archdiocese. Previously holding the position of comptroller, Fr. Baroody was appointed to his current post by the Former Archbishop of America when the position was created in 2017 amid significant changes that were made to the financial operations of the Archdiocese aimed at enhancing finance, treasury, budgeting, and accounting.
Fr. Soterios Baroody was ordained to the Diaconate, on December 4, 2011, by Bishop Andonios of Phasiane, and to the Priesthood on Dec. 18, 2011, the Former Archbishop of America, Demetrios. He holds a Bachelor in Business Administration (BBA) from the American University of Beirut, a Masters of Divinity from Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology, and a Masters of Accounting (MSA) from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
Fr. Soterios’ spouse, Dr. Oana Baroody, and their two daughters were present for the auspicious occasion.
