Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and All Africa will hold an official visit to Volos on June 5-6, invited by the Metropolitan Ignatios of Demetrias, in order to preside over the Great Feast of Ascension in Volos and to open the 2019 Maritime Week, which is dedicated to Alexandria.
Patriarch Theodore will arrive at the town hall of Volos at 12 a.m. where the Patriarch will be officially proclaimed honorary citizen by the mayor of Volos Achilleas Beos.
Then, he will visit the Administrative Center of the Metropolis of Demetrias at the Conference Hall of Thessaly.
In the afternoon, he will preseide over the Great Patriarchal Vespers service at the Church of the Holy Ascension in Volos, during which he will receive the highest honorary award of the local Church, the Gold Cross with Diploma.
On Thursday, June 6, the Patriarch will preside over of the Great Divine Liturgy.
In the afternoon he will go to the Giorgio de Chirico Art Centre to inaugurate the painting exhibition of Eleni Pavlou-Grossman, titled: “Holy Pilgrimages in Egypt: Agios Minas, Saint Catherine’s Monastery, Holy Monastery of Faran.”
Then at the Church of Saints Konstantinos and Eleni, he will officially open the 2019 Maritime Week, dedicated to Alexandria.
