Tourists are leaving Sri Lanka en masse after the bombings, said the Metropolitan Konstantinos of Singapore in an interview for News247 radio station.
As he pointed out, in recent years Sri Lanka tried to campaign as a tourist destination for the Buddhists, but after the bomb attack, tourists are constantly leaving.
He added that the situation is getting worse in the country even though people have experienced the civil war trauma for years.
“A generation of people have grown up in violence and war,” he noted. There were conflicts after the ceasefire agreement in 2009. However those conflicts cannot be compared to if there were conflicts after the 2009 peace treaty, but they are not compared to the current bomb attacks, which claimed more than 300 people.
He stressed that Christians are an easy target in the region since they are fewer than the two predominant religions, that is Buddhists and Hinduism.
