With feelings of emotion and joy, the Megalo Revma Community of Constantinople once again celebrated the Prophet Elijah in his Sacred Cemetery Church, where his miraculous Holy Water flows.
Numerous parishioners and pilgrims from other parts of the city came and prayed devoutly to the Prophet on July 19 and 20, receiving the love, hospitality, and care of the Megalo Revma community.
The divine services of the two days were presided over by Metropolitan Athenagoras of Kydonia, Archpriest of the Community, assisted by Archimandrite Timotheos Railakis-Vranas, Protopresbyter of the Ecumenical Throne Evangelos Grigoriadis, Protopresbyter Georgios Polychronopoulos, Presbyter Kyriakos Kesisoglou and Patriarchal Deacon Epiphanios Kamianovits.
It is worth mentioning that the Feast of Prophet Elijah is an old tradition of Megalo Revma in which all the villagers participated. For two days, after the services in their picturesque church, the celebrants enjoyed themselves on the enchanting hills of their village, accompanied by barrel organs and other instruments.
These beautiful traditions are remembered every year at this time, and as the younger generations remember the past, they look to the future with hope and optimism.
