Our Church commemorates today St. Daniel the Stylite.
Saint Daniel the Stylite lived during the reigns of Leo, Zeno, and Basiliscus. He entered a monastery at the age of 12 and lived there until he was thirty-eight. Once he met Saint Symeon the Stylite and received his received the benediction and encouragement to become a stylite, that is to live on a pillar, preaching, fasting and praying, in order to save their souls and acquire virtues.
He performed many miracles and his participation in the Council of Chalcedon held in 451 AD was very important.
He fell asleep in the Lord at the age of 80.
