Important landmarks of Melbourne will be illuminated with the colors of the Greek flag, in the context of the celebrations of the 200th anniversary of the Greek Revolution.
As reported by neoskosmos.com, this was announced by the State Minister for Multicultural Affairs, Ros Spence, announcing also that 23 associations and organizations received donations from the total sponsorship of $ 200,000 of the Andrews government, for holding events for 1821.
“I am pleased to be fulfilling our electoral commitment to provide $ 200,000 to ensure that the Greeks of Victoria celebrate this important milestone as best they can,” Spence said.
“This funding will result in a range of events and festivals across Melbourne that everyone can enjoy and showcase the rich cultural diversity that Victoria is proud of, while also supporting the revitalization of our economy” he added.
On March 25, Radwick City Hall in Sydney will also raise the Greek flag.
The relevant decision was recently taken by the City Council of Radwick, following a proposal submitted by the Greek Australian and Randwick City Councillor, Alexandra Luxford.
The decision also includes the organization of a civic reception in honor of the Greek community and the recognition of its significant contribution to the development of Radwick.
Also, on the day of the Greek national holiday, banners with the Greek flag and an emblem for the 200th anniversary will be flying over the city.
