From October 18 to October 20, about 70 Orthodox young people of twelve different nationalities, coming from various Parishes of the Holy Metropolis of Belgium and the Exarchate of the Netherlands and Luxembourg met all together in order to discuss the following topic; “How can a Christian remain steadfast in his faith nowadays.”
Priestmonk Makarios of Simonopetra Monastery at Mount Athos spoke of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, which was a sacrifice for the sake of humans, who now live away from God.
The culmination of the meeting of the Orthodox Youth was the celebration of the Divine Liturgy and prayers in order to celebrate their 40th anniversary.
In addition, Metropolitans Athenagoras of Belgium attended on Saturday the Vespers Service. The Protopresbyterian of the Ecumenical Throne, Dominique Verbeke (who also is the founder of the Orthodox Youth of the Benelux) , thanked Metropolitans of Belgium Aimilianos, Panteleimonas, and Athenagoras for their trust they showed in their initiatives.
