Bishop Ilarion of Edmonton and the Western Eparchy, Locum Tenens of the Metropolitan Cathedral of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada arrived, today, at the spiritual heart of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine – St. Michael Golden-domed Monastery – for a meeting with the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, Metropolitan Epifaniy of Kyiv and All-Ukraine.
During the discussion in the Residence of the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, the hierarchs spoke of the highlights of the recently completed visit of the Archbishop of Constantinople and New Rome and Ecumenical Patriarch, Bartholomew I, on the occasion of the grand celebration of the 30th Anniversary of the Independence of Ukraine.
Vladyka Ilarion had the opportunity, also, to present to the Ecumenical Patriarch a general overview of the life, at present, of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada, currently preparing for her 24th Sobor (in June of next year). The two hierarchs also considered mutually beneficial joint initiatives and projects between the two Ukrainian churches.
