The National Philoptochos Society stands in solidarity and supports our vulnerable sisters and brothers in Greece where wildfires raged.
Τhe Executive Board of the National Philoptochos Society took swift action and voted to distribute $40,000 to offer relief. Greece suffered an overwhelming and catastrophic loss in Evia, the Peloponnese Peninsula, and other parts of the country. We will continue to pray for all whose lives have been affected and pledge to continue our support.
This initial donation of $40,000, from the Aid to the People of Greece and Cyprus Fund, was unanimously supported as an immediate action to answer the call by Archbishop Elpidophoros and has been donated to the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America for the Greece Fires Relief Fund. Beginning September 1, 2021, the National Philoptochos Society will launch a specific campaign in concurrence with the Archdiocese to support those affected in Greece.
