After the conclusion of the events dedicated to the burial of the late Patriarch Neophyte, Metropolitan Epifaniy of Kyiv and All Ukraine visited the “Maty-Ukrayina” – Union of Ukrainian Organizations of Bulgaria in Sofia on March 16, 2024.
The Metropolitan was accompanied by the Deputy Head of the Department for External Church Relations, Metropolitan Yevstratiy of Bila Tserkva. The meeting was also attended by Ambassador of Ukraine Olesya Ilashchuk.
The Primate of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Ukraine engaged in dialogue with the representatives of the association, led by Olena Kotseva. He expressed gratitude for their support of Ukrainian citizens fleeing Russian aggression and encouraged them to receive God’s blessing.
The organization has been active in Bulgaria for over a decade, and in 2022, it established a volunteer center to provide humanitarian aid to internally displaced persons from Ukraine. This center operates within premises provided by the Sofia City Hall.
