“The celebration of the feast will take place this year with the faithful wearing masks in the churches,” Nikos Sypsas said, the professor of Infectious Diseases of the Medical School of the University of Athens and member of the committee for tackling the of the coronavirus.
Speaking to the Greek channel OPEN TV, Nikos Sypsas stated, “On the Feast of the Dormition of the Mother of God, on the 15th of August, everything will be different this year, period!” He added that Greece was facing “a wide spread of the coronavirus throughout the country.”
The professor of Infectious Diseases advised everyone to wear masks in the churches, because “it is a place where the elderly and vulnerable groups gather.” Finally, he said, “We will celebrate the feast in many different ways this year, without being gathered all together.”
