Archbishop Elpidophros of America appointed Archimandrite Nektarios Papazafiropoulos as the new Protosyncellus of the Archdiocese of America, and Protopresbyter Ilias Villis as Protosyncellus of the Direct Archdiocesan District of New York.
Archimandrite Nektarios Papazafiropoulos was until now hierarchical head of the Community of the Cathedral of Saint Dimitrios in Astoria.
The new Protosenycellus will be assisted by his brother Fr. Panagiotis Papazafiropoulos.
Andreas Vythoulkas has been appointed the head of the Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church and National Shrine in Manhattan.
It is noted that for the first time a protosyncellus of the New York Direct Archdiocesan District is appointed, while Fr. Vilis will continue to be the head of the Ray community.
