On Tuesday, December 29, 2020, a Divine Liturgy and the fortieth-day memorial service of the Patriarch of Serbia, Irinej, took place at the Cathedral of Saint Sava.
According to the announcement of the Holy Synod of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church that met on December 24, 2020, the Divine Liturgy began at 9:00 and then the memorial service for the Patriarch started around 11:00 a.m. in the crypt of the cathedral where his tomb is.
It is reminded that Patriarch Irinej of Serbia fell asleep in the Lord after losing battle with COVID-19 on Friday, November 20, 2020, at 7:07 a.m. Archbishop of Cetinje, Metropolitan of Montenegro and Exarch of the Holy Throne of Pec, Amfilohije, reposed in the Lord in the Clinical Hospital Center of Montenegro, on Friday, October 30, 2020, at 8.20 am, on the eve of the feast of St. Peter of Cetinje after a three-week battle with COVID-19.
