After more than four months, churches in Melbourne and the State of Victoria opened their doors to welcome faithful, initially with a limit of ten people set after the lockdown ended.
The Feast of Saint David of Evia was celebrated on Sunday at the Church of Panagia Sumela in Keilor East, Melbourne. It is noted that one of the two chapels of the Church of Panagia Sumela is dedicated to the memory of Saint David, and a part of his relic is kept there.
The Archiepiscopal Vicar of Northcote, Archimandrite Fr. Evmenios Vasilopoulos solemnly presided over the Divine Liturgy as reported by vema.com.au. The joy of the parishioners who were able to go to the church after such a long time was reflected in their eyes and faces.
Fr. Evmenios first spoke to the faithful about Saint David and his obedience to the Church and the will of God while he expressed how happy was because he could now address the believers in the church, and not just online, as had been the case in recent months. In addition, Fr. Evmenios conveyed the heartfelt wishes and blessing of Archbishop Makarios of Australia.
