Event in honour of Metropolitan Makarios of Kenya organized by the Center of Ecumenical, Missiological and Environmental Studies “Metropolitan Panteleimon Papageorgiou” (CEMES).
The event will take place on Sunday, December 29, 2019, at 19:00, at the “Metropolitan Panteleimon Papageorgiou” Amphitheater of the Center, at the Saint Theodora Monastery in Thessaloniki.
Elder Makarios, Metropolitan of Nairobi and Exarch of Kenya of the ancient Patriarchate of Alexandria and All Africa will receive the emeritus status of the Center.
During the event, Metropolitan Makarios will speak on “Experiences from Orthodox Mission in Africa and the Ecumenical Dialogue at the World Council of Churches”. The “Faros tou Kosmou” (Lighthouse of the World) Children’s Protection Center of the Metropolis of Neapolis will participate at the event. The children of “Faros” will chant Christmas carols.
The event is open to the public.
