Erdogan’s reference to Hagia Sophia is not related to Trump’s initiatives (upd)

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan

LAST UPDATE: 20:50

Changing the status of Hagia Sophia in Constantinople from a temple-museum to a mosque will be the answer to US President Donald Trump’s decision to recognize Israel’s dominance over the Golan Heights, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said in his speech in Trebizond, as reported by Anadolu Agency.

However, as ANA-MPA notes in its new telegram, the statements by the Turkish president are not related to the actions of the American president Trump regarding the Golan Heights.

In particular, it explains that this sequential coverage of two separate issues in Erdogan’s campaign rally led to a telegraph report by the Russian TASS “which interpreted the thought of changing Hagia Sophia’s status as Erdogan’s response to Trump, which seems arbitrary when someone reads carefully the two successive paragraphs, while knowing the content of the extraordinary Islamic Conference in Constantinople.”
