A delegation of the Ecumenical Patriarchate headed by Metropolitan Emmanuel of France travelled to Kiev on the occasion of the name day of Metropolitan Epiphanius of Kiev and all Ukraine.
In the framework of this visit, Metropolitan Emmanuel of France and Deacon Gregorios, who is also the Deputy Secretary of the Holy Synod, also visited former Metropolitan Filaret of Kiev.
During the cordial meeting with him, the Hierarch of the Church of Ukraine not only thanked the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew for all that he did for the Ukrainian people, but also for the strong support of the historical and canonical responsibilities of the Throne of Constantinople.
On the other hand, Filaret assured, through his representatives, the Ecumenical Patriarch, that he continued, in spite of the external interference to cause a division, to support Metropolitan Epiphanius, who is his spiritual disciple. Filaret also underlined that he remained vigilant and continued showing active interest in the course of the Church of Ukraine.
