On Tuesday evening, February 6, 2024, Archbishop Sotirios of Canada, Bishop Athenagoras, and 22 Reverend Fathers from the Greater Toronto Area, celebrated the Divine Liturgy for the Feast of St. Photios the Great, Patriarch of Constantinople. The Liturgy was celebrated at the St. Nicholas Cathedral in Toronto. St. Photios is the Patron Saint of the Clergy Association of Canada, which is currently led by Fr. Photios Tsamis.
The Archbishop, Bishop, and priests, together with the chanters, altar servers, and faithful, conducted the Liturgy in true harmony imbued with an angelic spirit. All of the priests prayed the liturgical petitions together, creating a spiritual and truly moving environment.
The Archbishop delivered a short homily about Our Lord Jesus Christ, and Him knowing His disciples, and using this message to ask himself, as Archbishop, as well as for the priests, whether they know their faithful and if the Christians know their priest and co-operate with him.
Following the Liturgy, a dinner for all was organized by the Cathedral Community and local Philoptochos Chapter and held at the Cultural Centre of the Archdiocese.
Before the Divine Liturgy Archbishop Sotirios, Bishop Athenagoras and all the clergymen had a meeting and discussed several topics.
