On Thursday, 9 November 2023, Bishop Silvestros of Jinja celebrated the Divine Liturgy at Holy Resurrection Cathedral in Jinja, Uganda, to commemorate Saint Nektarios Metropolitan of Pentapolis and Wonder-worker of Aegina.
One of the most revered modern saints, Nektarios served under the Patriarchate of Alexandria, particularly as the Metropolitan of Pentapolis in Eastern Libya before moving to Aegina in Greece, where he performed miracles. Saint Nektarios was canonized in 1961 by the Holy and Sacred Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople.
