The Holy Archdiocese of Thyateira and Great Britain, in collaboration with the Greek Orthodox Community Ap. Peter and Paul in Bristol, West England, organized an online National Event, on Monday, April 5, 2021, as part of the celebrations for the 200th anniversary of the beginning of the Greek Revolution of 1821.
The event was under the auspices and blessing of Archbishop Nikitas of Thyateira and Great Britain. The presentation was coordinated by Protopresbyter Anastasios D. Salapatas.
The main presentation, with a general theme: “The participation and contribution of Cyprus in the National Struggle of 1821”, was offered by Theodoros D. Gotsis, Consul General of the Republic of Cyprus in London, who presented his topic in an excellent way, with analytical discourse, with high historical science, and with bold dynamism. The presentation created a sensation and offered a national pulse and patriotic uplift.
The worthy speaker and distinguished diplomat referred to persons and things, to facts, as well as to the rich historiography around the subject under consideration, emphasizing the great truth, that there was a clear mobilization of the Cypriots in the common National Struggle of 1821 and that there has always been a voluntary and timeless contribution of the Greeks of Cyprus to all subsequent National Struggles of the Ecumenical Hellenism.
