The District of Adelaide of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia issued an encyclical regarding the abortion bill that had been tabled in the Parliament of South Australia.
The encyclical was read during the service that took place on Sunday, October 18.

Dear Reverend Fathers, brothers and sisters in Christ,
As you may be aware, this Wednesday 14th of October a new Bill was tabled in SA parliament under the guise of decriminalising abortion. There are supposedly safeguards, but because finding two medical practitioners out of the 9,000 in our State who will consider an abortion “medically appropriate” is merely a formality, the practical effect of this Bill will be to allow abortion all the way up to birth for any reason.
To make matters worse, this Bill defines it as a form of abuse to “coerce” a woman to not have an abortion. Parents who try to discourage their pregnant daughters from going down this path (that is harmful both to them and their unborn grandchild) risk being labelled Abusers!
With the God-given miracles of modern medicine, a child past the age of 22 weeks and 6 days gestation can be delivered via induction or caesarean and have a real chance of survival. Even if the life of the mother is at stake, Doctors can terminate the pregnancy, without killing the child.
