The Deputy Head of External Relations of the Autocephalous Church of Ukraine, Archbishop Yevstratiy Zoria, said that the informal synod convened by “honourable” Patriarch Filaret cannot be considered as a local council of the Patriarchate of Kiev.
“This meeting is nothing, but it can certainly not be called Local Synod,” Archbishop Yevstratiy said.
Also, Archbishop Zoria reiterated that “by decision of the United Synod on December 15, 2018, it was decided that the Patriarchate of Kiev would cease its activities and join the new Church of Ukraine. There are documents, there are videos and witnesses that this was done with everyone’s consent.”
It is reminded that “honourable” Patriarch Filaret, according to Ukrainian media, announced that he will convene a Local Synod, which will restore the so-called Patriarchate of Kiev.
