Archbishop Makarios of Australia had the opportunity to communicate in person with the Greek Orthodox flock of the city of Kearns during his pastoral visit to North Queensland, on the occasion of the foundation of the St John’s Arlington Lifestyle Apartments.
The Archbishop was warmly welcomed by the members of the Community of St. John the Baptist, while during his stay there he visited the premises of the Organization “St John’s Community Care”, where he spoke with his staff, congratulated him on his contribution and blessed the good work he is doing in favor of our weak and passionate fellow humans.
Archbishop Makarios also had meetings with President Theodoros Bakalakis and the members of the Board of Directors of the Organization, and with the Head of the Church of St. John the Baptist, Fr. Menelaos Chatzopoulos, and the members of the Ecclesiastical Council, during which he was extensively informed about the whole range of activities of the Organization “St. John”, as well as about the plans for its further development, while respectively proposed programs for the progress of parish life. The Archbishop once again paid tribute to the executives of the St John’s Community Care Organization, which is constantly strengthening its social footprint throughout the State of Queensland.
The interesting and productive meetings of the Archbishop concluded with his visit to the Kindergarten of the Parish of St.John, where he saw the smiling faces of the children, to whom he devoted sufficient time to talk with them, to give them his paternal blessings and to offer them an icon of Christ. He also discussed with the staff, whom he thanked warmly for the services offered.
