St. John’s Daily Bilingual School in Preston was visited today by Archbishop Makarios, who was received with great enthusiasm.
The Archbishop’s visits to Melbourne’s Greek day schools began with the school of St. John, the oldest Greek day school in the city, which celebrates 40 years of presence in the community and the city at large.
At the entrance of the School, there stood a large group of students with two flags and several drums.
The Archbishop was accompanied by two Auxiliary Bishops, Ezekiel of Dervis and Iakovos of Militoupolis.
Addressing students and other attendees, the Archbishop wished good progress at the school, promising to stand by students and teaching staff.
In his speech, the Archbishop praised the school’s work and reiterated that its future would be bright.
Archbishop Makarios toured the school facilities and visited classrooms, while he had the opportunity to talk with students and teaching staff.
