Archbishop Makarios of Australia paid a visit to the Embassy of Ukraine in Canberra on Wednesday, 2nd March, accompanied by Bishop Bartholomew of Charioupolis, the Archimandrite Christophoros Krikelis, Chancellor of the Holy Archdiocese, and Archdeacon Athenagoras Karakonstantakis.
The Archbishop with his entourage were warmly welcomed by the Ukrainian Embassy’s Chargé d’Affaires to Australia, Mr Volodymyr Shalkivskyi, who updated them about the current situation in his troubled homeland.
For his part, Archbishop Makarios briefed the Head of the Ukrainian Diplomatic Mission about his contact with Australian Government officials, while reaffirming the unwavering position of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia in support of peace to prevail, in concord with the Mother Church and His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.
