On Pentecost Sunday, June 20, 2021, Archbishop Makarios of Australia presided over the Divine Liturgy at the historic Monastery of Agios Georgios Epanosifis, in Heraklion, Crete, on the occasion of his short visit to Crete in view of his transfer to the Phanar and his participation in the meeting of the Holy Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
Archbishop Makarios presided over the Divine Liturgy and the Kneeling prayer, accompanied by the Abbot of the Holy Monastery, Archimandrite Bartholomew Vogiatzoglou, and members of the fraternity of the Monastery.
Also touching was the large number of pilgrims, who rushed to receive the blessing of the Archbishop of Australia and to converse with him. It is noted that among the congregation were members of the family of Archbishop Makarios.
