Archbishop Makarios of Australia was informed about the sad incident of the brutal attack against a devoted parishioner of the Saints Constantine and Helen Church in South Yarra, in Melbourne.
The Archbishop wanted to be informed about her state of health immediately and conveyed to her family his personal wishes for a speedy recovery, as well as the paternal wishes of Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.
Moreover, the Archbishop of Australia said: “I express deep sorrow, as well as my strong disapproval, over this violent incident victim of which was a dear member of our Church, who had a long and sacrificial offering to the Parish of Saints Constantine and Eleni in Melbourne. I would like to assure you that our Holy Archdiocese will remain on the side of our hospitalised parishioner in case she needs anything during her recovery. I urge the clergy and the people to pray fervently to God for a speedy recovery as well as for the pacification of the souls of all people and their liberation from evil thoughts which lead them towards violent acts. May the perpetrators of this atrocious act reflect on their disrespectful behaviour and the injustice caused and sincerely repent.”
