“Not only are you with the Creator when you are alone with God, but you are also together with each other. God is the one who unites us all… you are not alone,” said Archbishop Elpidophoros of America during his visit to Camp Saint Paul on Monday, July 3, 2023.
Camp Saint Paul is the camping ministry of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocesan District located in Litchfield, CT, and is one of many dedicated and fruitful camping ministries that offer programming each summer throughout the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America. Over 180 campers, 54 young adult staff, and five young adult administrators received Archbishop Elpidophoros with great joy and appreciation chanting, “We love you!” Campers and staff from various parts of the country attend Camp Saint throughout the summer including from New York, Connecticut, Chicago, Alaska, Texas, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington DC, Maryland, and Pennsylvania.
Archbishop Elpidophoros dedicated the theme for this summer to be, “Do Not Be Afraid!” taken from the Gospel according to Saint Luke 12:32.
Commenting to the participants during his visit, Archbishop Elpidophoros reminded everyone: “Do not be afraid because we are never alone even when we think we are alone because God is with us. Here you learn that Faith is also fun. It is our whole life. Here at Camp, you taste the Christian life. You taste how beautiful it is in practice. Being an Orthodox Christian.”
