Archbishop Elpidophoros of America made a statement on the incident that took place during the World Athletics Championships in Doha on Twitter.
“In this IAAF World Athletics Championships competition, one brother carried the other. They finished the race with love,” tweeted Archbishop Elpidophoros referring to Saint Paul’s Second Epistle to Timothy “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” The Archbishop added, “May we all carry one another, and so fulfill the law of Christ, the law of love,” referring to the Epistle to the Galatians, “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”
