On Monday, December 18, the Archdiocesan District of Adelaide received the Ambassador of Greece to Canberra, Georgios Papakostas, and his wife, Gohar Badalyan, accompanied by the Consul General of Greece in Adelaide, Georgios Psiachas. Immediately after his arrival in Adelaide, the Archdiocesan Vicar of Adelaide, Bishop Silouan of Sinope, welcomed them to the Archdiocesan Church of the Wisdom of God, along with many of the clergy of Adelaide and members of the Intercommunal Committee and the Central Philoptochos Fraternity. Afterwards, a dinner was held in the adjacent hall of the church, during which the Bishop conveyed the wishes and blessings of Archbishop Makarios of Australia.
The Ambassador’s visit to the Church of God the Wisdom was part of his five-day visit to Adelaide, which also included visits to five parishes of the Archdiocesan District of Adelaide. He also had the opportunity to appreciate the breadth of Greek cultural influence in the “City of Churches”.
