The Great Imam of El Azhar, Ahmed El Tayeb, sent warm wishes from Egypt to the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and other religious leaders.
In addition to the Ecumenical Patriarch, he sent wishes to Pope Francis, Coptic Patriarch Tawandros, and the Anglican Archbishop Justin Welby.
“My warm wishes to my friends, Pope Francis, the Coptic Patriarch Tawandros, Archbishop Justin Welby, Patriarch Bartholomew I, as well as to all Christians around the world on the occasion of Christmas,” he wrote in his message, in Arabic, English, and French.
“I pray to Almighty God to continue to bless us with peace, love, and brotherhood and to protect the world from hatred and war,” said the head of the world’s leading Sunni Muslim institution.
It is noted that the Great Imam of Al-Azhar supports with his work the harmonious coexistence of Christians and Muslims in the country.
