He is not going to leave the nunnery of Central Ural, says the schema monk Sergei, for whom yesterday was issued the decision to be excommunicated from the Russian Church.
The monk appeared with a new video on social media, having dozens of his supporters by his side, in which he indirectly stated that he was not going to leave the monastery and obey the decisions of the ecclesiastical court.
According to the Russian media, the monk is a serious problem for the leadership of the Russian Church because of his aggressive attitude but also because he is supported by several people inside and outside the monastery he built.
Sergius has turned against the leadership of the Russian Church on the occasion of the containment measures applied in temples due to the pandemic. The ecclesiastical court initially forbade the monk to perform a Divine Liturgy and yesterday excommunicated him as he did not obey the first decision and did not appear in court.
In his recent video, the monk again turned against Patriarch Kirill and the leadership of the Russian state.
“Not my hand. I ask the Archangel Michael to draw this line through my unworthy hands, a defensive line for the monastery” said the monk in the video, saying that whoever dares to cross this line will be responsible for what happens.
