The new Ambassador of Greece to Egypt, Nikolaos Papageorgiou, paid an official visit to the Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa on January 31, 2023.
The Patriarch welcomed the Ambassador to the Throne Room and expressed his joy for this visit, underlining the harmonious relations between Greece and Egypt. At the same time, he expressed once again the gratitude of the Church of Alexandria to the Greek State, as well as to Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, for the continuous understanding towards the missionary, pastoral, humanitarian, and national work in general on the African continent.
The Ambassador thanked the Patriarch for the warm welcome and expressed his unwavering support for the Patriarchate of Alexandria and All Africa. This was followed by a private discussion at the Patriarchal Office, an exchange of commemorative gifts, as well as a tour of Papageorgiou on the premises of the Patriarchal Palace.
Present at the meeting were Metropolitan Panteleimon of Naucratis, Chief Secretary of the Holy Synod, Metropolitan Narcissus of Pelusium, Patriarchal Commissioner of Alexandria, and the Consul General of Greece in Alexandria Athanasios Kotsionis.
