The President of the Hellenic Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, and the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, had a phone conversation today during which they discussed important issues, such as how to deal with the health crisis, the prospects for recovery of the tourism sector, bilateral relations, as well as Ukraine’s relations with the European Union and NATO.
Moreover, they had the opportunity to exchange views on the health situation in their countries and how to find appropriate solutions. They also discussed the prospects for the recovery of the tourism sector, as vaccination campaigns continue in both countries and across Europe.
They also discussed the possibilities of cooperation in some areas of mutual interest, Ukraine’s relations with the European Union and NATO and developments in the wider region.
Volodymyr Zelensky thanked Katerina Sakellaropoulou for Greece’s support and he invited her again to pay an official visit to Ukraine when health conditions will allow her to do so.
The President of the Hellenic Republic accepted the invitation of the Ukrainian President and pointed out that Ukraine was a very important partner in the context of the celebrations for the 200 years since the Greek Revolution since Odessa was the seat of the Filiki Eteria (Society of Friends). In addition, she said that the Greek community of the region has been playing a very important role.
