The debate on the revision of the constitution continued with Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras speaking to the General Assembly of the Parliament.
The prime minister, referring to the Church-State relations and to what the government proposes to change, said that the rationalisation of the Church-State relations is a necessary step.
As he highlighted, “with our proposal for securing the religious neutrality of the state and the binding of the political oath, we make a mature and necessary step in rationalizing the Church’s relations with the state,” the prime minister said.
He also noted that it was “a step that the enlightened figures of the Church recognize as necessary; to specify what belongs to God and consciousness, and what is related to the public sphere and the functioning of the state.”
