The great feast of the Annunciation of the Holy Theotokos was celebrated at the Church of the Annunciation on Monday the 25th of March.
Bishop Elpidios of Kyanea Presided at the Vespers Service the night before and officiated at the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy on the actual day of the feast.
In his sermon during the Divine Liturgy, Bishop Elpidios referred to the Gospel reading of the day by focusing specifically on the verse, “For with God nothing will be impossible.”
Following this, Father Terry Gerovasilis also read the message of Archbishop Makarios of Australia on the occasion of the Feast Day of the 25th of March. In the message, Bishop Elpidios stated:
“Three great events (Annunciation, 1821 Struggle and the Archdiocese Centenary) (have) the common foundation of a courageous mentality and trust in God….which we, especially here in Australia, are called to draw inspiration so that we can meet the challenges of our time and sojourn the new centenary of our Holy Archdiocese with courage and faith”.
At the conclusion of the Liturgy, a Trisagion Service was conducted for the late Archbishop Stylianos Harkianakis, of blessed memory, who fell asleep on the actual day of the Annunciation five years ago.
Prior to the Dismissal, Bishop Elpidios conveyed to all the paternal blessing of Archbishop Makarios of Australia and wished everyone a blessed feast day.
