On Thursday the 17th of August, Bishop Elpidios of Kyanea received with great delight at the Archdiocesan District of Perth Offices, Maryka Groenewald, the Western Australia State Director for the Australian Christians Party.
Maryka has passionately served the Western Australia community for the past 15 years and holds qualifications in Community Development, Politics and Leadership. The purpose of her visit was to introduce herself to the Bishop and to discuss how Australians from all walks of life can work together in seeing our community flourish.
Bishop Elpidios conveyed to Maryka Groenewald the blessings of Archbishop Makarios of Australia and thanked her for visiting the Perth District Offices. A delicious morning tea was served consisting of Greek coffee and sandwiches which was then followed with a tour of the Church of Saints Nektarios, located adjacent to the Perth District Offices. Inside the church, the Bishop gave a brief explanation of the Orthodox Faith and its symbolism and referred to the Feast of the Dormition of the Holy Theotokos which the Church is currently celebrating.
