A three-member official delegation was sent by the Ecumenical Patriarchate to the Church of Rome on the occasion of the Thronal Feast.
The Patriarchal Delegation was attended by Archbishop Job of Telmessos, head of the representatives, Bishop Maximos of Melitene, Protosyncellus of the Metropolis of France, and Deacon Bosporios, Coder of the Holy Synod.
On June 28, the Delegation of the Ecumenical Patriarchate met with the President of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity, where they discussed topical issues. Later, they were received by Pope Francis of Rome, in a private hearing. At noon Pope Francis invited the Delegation of the Ecumenical Patriarchate to a meal.
During the meeting, they discussed the current issues of the two Churches as well as the future steps of the Joint International Commission for Theological Dialogue between the Roman Catholic and the Orthodox Church.
The next meeting of the Coordinating Committee is planned for next November in Boze, Italy, to continue studying the text of “Primacy and Synodality in the Second Millennium and Today.”
On June 29, the Delegation attended the official Divine Liturgy at the Basilica of Apostle Peter, where the Pope of Rome presided.
