The soul exists in the world because it is born, while the mind is above the world because it is unborn.
But the soul, which perceives the matters of the world and desires to be saved, has at all times an inviolable law, and contemplates that now the battle is on, now it is being tested, and it is not allowed to interrupt the judge; it reflects that the soul is saved or lost for a short and obscene pleasure.
