To the election of the new Metropolitans of Moschonisia, and Imbros and Tenedos proceeded on Monday, March 9, the Holy and Sacred Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate at the suggestion of the Ecumenical Patriarch.
Addressing the new Metropolitan of Imbros and Tenedos, previous Bishop of Erythres, Kyrillos, the Ecumenical Patriarch expressed his joy for the position and expressed his conviction that the new Metropolitan would be worthy of his successor.
“You, brother Kyrillos, have the requisite qualifications, as evidenced by your long ministry in Mytilene, Smyrna and Constantinople,” he added.
Special mention was made by the Ecumencal Patriarch to the previous Shepherd of the island, the newly elected Metropolitan Cyril of Moschonisia, who, as he said, “conscientiously continued with the offer of the late Photios of Heraklia, loved the Eparchy and his birthplace, renovated parish churches and numerous chapels.”
Then, addressing the new Metropolitan of Imbros and Tenedos, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew stressed that he would continue and increase the so far offer of the newly elected Metropolitan of Moschonisia, and he would love and be loved by his flock. And he added “you will thank your Imbrian Patriarch. Axios, brother.”
In his response, Metropolitan Kyrillos expressed to the Ecumenical Patriarch and the Synodal Hierarchs his heartfelt gratitude and his excitement for his election as Shepherd of this Metropolis of the Throne, and assured them that with his devotion to the Mother Church, he would minister the people of God in the Eparchy he has entrusted him with, and that he would always honor and respect his predecessor.
