The Metropolitan of Imbros and Tenedos, Cyril, was elected shortly before new Metropolitan of Moschonisia by the Holy Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
The new Metropolitan of Moschonisia, Cyril (Dragounis), former Metropolitan of Imbros and Tenedos, Exarch of the Aegean Sea, was born in Imbros in 1942. He graduated from the Theological School of Halki in 1967 and was ordained Deacon during the last year of his studies, at the church of the seminary by its scholarch, Metropolitan Maximos of Stavroupolis. He served as a Tertiary at the Ecumenical Patriarchate, as a Secondary of the Patriarchal Deacons and as Grand Archdeacon, whereas in 1985 he was elected as Titular Metropolitan of Seleucia. In 1994 he jointed the Hierarchs in office of the Ecumenical Throne. On September 5, 2002 he was transferred to the Holy Metropolis of Imbros and Tenedos.
