The Holy and Sacred Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, chaired by the Ecumenical Patriarch, will convene from Tuesday until next Thursday (October 6-8, 2020), at the Katholikon of the Holy Patriarchal and Stavropegial Monastery of Zoodochos Pigi in Valoukli.
At yesterday’s session, at the invitation of the Ecumenical Patriarch, the Hierarchs participated in the synodal work under the regular protection of the Mother Church of the Autonomous Orthodox Church of Finland.
A useful substantive discussion followed, during which all the concerns, thoughts, opinions and issues that concern this local Church were raised, as well as the ways of its spiritual development and soul-nurturing prosperity in the future.
Also during the first day of work yesterday, the Holy and Sacred Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate unanimously elected the Archimandrite and Exarch of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Kyiv, as Bishop of Koman, and as such will continue his ministry in Ukraine.
He also approved the proposal of the Eparchial Synod of the Holy Archdiocese of America for the election of three Bishops, who will continue their duties, as Auxiliary Bishops, in the Dioceses in which they already serve.
